TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Durable flame retardant for synthetic fibres.

GENERAL PROPERTIES

• Used for durable flame retardant finishing of synthetic woven and knitted material. 
• Applied by a pad thermosol or coating process.
• Does not contain halogens (bromine).
• Can be used in combination with selected fluorochemicals.

SPECIAL ADVICE

• There may be minor colour changes (pre-trials recommended)
• A post rinse is recommended to improve rub fastness in deep shades.
• Optimum effects are achieved at pH 5-6.
• The thermosol temperature should always be above the thermosetting temperature used for the polyester.
• Pre trials are recommended to assess the thermo-migration of the disperse dyes.
• Can be added into a coating paste. 

PROCESSING

Flamgard PE High Conc is dilutable in cold water before addition to the bath. 

The polyester woven or knitted fabrics to be finished with Flamgard PE High Conc must be free from preparation auxiliaries and sizes. 

APPLICATION

Depending on the kind of polyester materials used, the recommended dose level is:

150-300 g/l Flamgard PE High Conc

For optimum effects the pad bath is adjusted to pH 5 using phosphate buffer (usually 5-10 g/l of Disodium Phosphate). The exact amount should be determined by pre-trials. If necessary, a non ionic or anionic wetting agent may be used.

The padded material is normally dried at 100°C-130°C followed by a thermosol treatment at 180°C-210°C for 1-2 minutes. A short cold water rinse should then be given, followed by drying at 100°C-130°C to remove emulsifiers which may effect the rub fastness in deep shades.

Regarding coating application, 3 to 5% (on the weight of paste) are recommended.
